Help!
An e-mail from my little sister:
can you maybe make me one more cd and send it? I want some ani difranco songs on this one, and anything else that will keep some high schoolers attention and also make them think.
some specific songs:
tis of thee
hello birmingham
old old song
reckoning
I'm not a high-schooler any more, and when I was, I don't remember what held my attention besides Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Whitesnake. Somehow, I don't think that's what she's looking for.
Any suggestions?

The people she's making think...

...are French high-school students in the American Culture class she's teaching.

Re: The people she's making think...

Simon and Garfunkel and a couple other hippy folk artists went over well with them, I think.

Trust me. There is -no- accounting for the French and their tastes.

Mmm ... well, if they liked Simon & Garfunkel, you could try some Guster or Savage Garden, as they're both fairly acoustic.

Alanis and Fiona Apple also have some similarities to Ani, if you're trying for the whole feminist-commentary-on-life perspective, I suppose ...

Does she want popular/current music to use in class, or is it supposed to be in the background?

Re: *ponders*

As far as I know, she uses the lyrics to plan lessons around.

Ani DiFranco is good... I'd say Tori Amos as well, because I'm a high schooler and I love Tori. What about Jewel? She's got some think-y songs.

I don't really think my tastes in music are typical of most high schoolers though. Does she want music that american high schoolers like, or just any music? Because they play the radio often enough in art for me to know what's considered popular with kids here...
