Notimetothink!
Trying to wrap up in the next day or so all my paperwork so I can go to Delaware and then to rural rotation with no loose ends, so on top of working nights I am swamped.

But TheFerret wrote a simply wonderful post on how sometimes bad things happen and he mentions the malpractice dilemma, and I could just kiss him for it.
So read this : http://theferrett.livejournal.com/811175.html

And if you're good, and I'm awake, I'll write you something on the plane ride to Delaware.

Current Location: $hospital

Very good post there!

Timely for me, too. My SO has been feeling fatigued and generally yecchy for a while now. Two weeks ago he had a bellyache that was really bothering him. It went away. 1 1/2 weeks ago, he spiked a high fever one night, but figured he was just getting some secondary bacterial fun in his lungs from the cold he had, and it went away overnight.

One week ago the bellyache came back, with vomiting, and moved to the RLQ over the course of a few hours. At that point he overcame his huge fear of doctors, and got a friend to drive him to the ER, since he couldn't straighten up or stop vomiting bile to drive himself. His physical exam and labs weren't conclusive, so they decided to do a CAT scan, and then booked the OR :-)

I'm glad he did. I had no way to get off the island that night, so I couldn't go drag him to the ER myself. However, I was there the next morning not long after they moved him from recovery, and he was home that same evening. Healing fine and is now back at work after a few days of light nursing from yours truly :-D
