Things to talk about...
This has been a rough Peds month. Long and rough. I'm working on finding the good stories to tell you as well as the depressing ones - it seems like mostly, what I write about is bad.

There's a little nine-year-old boy with new diabetes in the peds unit right now. He's angry at me, because I told him he had diabetes. What can you do? He's next door to a nine-month-old baby who tried to choke me with my stethoscope this morning. It was good; baby is beginning to meet my going-home criteria. Anyone who runs in the halls, roams the nurses station, throws bottles, or eats my stethoscope is going to go home soon.

It's a short entry - I have a headache from the floor stripper at home and I just want to go sleep. On call tomorrow. Weekend off. Clinic Monday morning. Tuesday off to NCFMR and I'll be there through the weekend. I'm going to run for something, and I think the STFM resident spot is my goal. I love those folks.
Maybe I'll see some people I know there. Maybe ishotkenney should e-mail me so I can give her my cell number.

And, in other news, I'm going to suggest that you peek at akachanno.

More later.

re:akachanno: !

Sincerest congratulations, and best wishes! :-)

And best of luck / break a leg at NCFMR. Medicine needs all the passionate, talented activists it can get, especially an old AAFP hand like you.
