Tonight, I am bitter...
My Angel and many of my friends are in $major_city several hours away. They are at a gaming party that I have been a regular B-Movie EM (Evil Mastermind) at for several years; that I have made omelets at for the last two. They are having a lot of fun.
I just came home from a little get-together at M's house, but it is not the same. I am not where I feel like I should be. I am going to spend my New Year's Eve delivering babies, because you know, I got dubbed "Fetal Attraction" by Dr. A and when I was on with Dr. B we had "the most hellacious night in human history" and every time I step onto the OB floor every woman within fifty everloving miles gets labor pains.

We shall see.

now feeling:: lonely lonely

I'm sorry to hear. That sucks. That really sucks.

My brother (a radiology R2) is on duty over New Year's too, as are a lot of my intern, resident, and young faculty friends. (One of my friends actually delivered the New Year's baby in Seattle. Even made the local news.) Or they were on duty for Christmas.

I know it's just another of those things they expect of us -- and I myself will be making the "Christmas or New Year's?" choice in just a year or so, like the rest of you -- but just because we all do it, and are expected to do it, doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

Here's hoping for as quiet night as possible. And Happy New Year -- and thank you for sharing so much of your experiences in the year past for the rest of us to see.

Mmmm, your omelets. *hugs*

I'm at a party with my sweetie...it's exactly a year since all the happy craziness started.

May you and all those little tax deductions be well.
