It is O-dark-hundred. Four admissions and a consult thus far; one call to come see a lady who's not acting right, a few calls about patients on the floor. Three hours to go before I can hand over the house pager. It has been a night of frustration and triumph; I am glad the ER docs like me because they are willing to talk to me and cut me slack when I get two admissions in a row and am absurdly slow getting the patients up.
Now, sleep for a bit. Sleep when you can. I have clean socks.
