White Coat

This morning, Surgery. He looks up at me. "So where does the blood supply to the ovaries come from?" Panic. And, O Best Beloved, he flayed my forgotten anatomy open in all its hideous glory. I don't remember anything. Nothing. It has been many months since a surgical rotation, and I was never very good at vascular anatomy and when he glanced over the surgical mask and in a cool and unruffled tone commented This is basic anatomy.
It is. And there's no excuse for forgetting it, not really. So I'm scrambling on the hunt for my Netter and my anatomy book, peering at Gray's, and generally feeling like an all-around first-year idiot again.

Plus, the patient delivered about fifteen minutes before I could grab the OB and ask to observe.

How's your day, O Best Beloved?

Here it goes.

Your rank order list (ROL) information was certified at 02/07/2005 08:37 PM for use in the NRMP Main Residency Match and is now on file with NRMP. The listing of an applicant by a program on its certified rank order list or of a program by an applicant on the applicant's certified rank order list establishes a binding commitment to offer or to accept a position if a match results. Failure to honor that commitment may result in penalties as described in the NRMP's Violations Policy.

Now I wait. Match day is March 17th. I have just over a month to wait. And there's a little house down in the city where $residency is, a house that's absolutely darling.
