...a tribute to becoming a doctor.
She had a pelvis like a Mack truck....
Subject in reference to the woman who today's lecturer delivered of a 12#8oz baby without a tear.
Also note: delivering a 10# baby with no tear is not necessarily a Good Thing. Think what that says about the size of the cavity it came through...

And now that I'm done being vulgar for the day, O Best Beloved, a quick update, as I don't have to meet my resident until 0920 in the Batcave (med people out there: is it an Indiana Thing or a medical thing to refer to the intern phone as the 'batphone' and the residents' area as 'the batcave'? Everyone seems to do it).
Sunday night I missed two quick deliveries as I was sleeping. I slept all night, though, and in the morning discovered I would be working with Dr. G and MC for the GYN-ONC section of my rotation. Dr. G is the easy part of GYN-ONC (which, O Best Beloved, involves much cancer of the girly bits, in case you were curious), and not the one whose residents expect you to cover all 8 patients by yourself and still be ready for 6 AM rounds. I had Peds Surg, I don't need those fewmets again.
Yesterday was light - as I mentioned I'd been on call the previous night and was immediately told to go home after afternoon lectures. I also made sure up front that MC (every freakin' time I type that I think of ryken, dangit) knew not to expect me in on Thursday-Sunday, so the Big Thanksgiving Pary will be graced by my gloooorious presence, and Quinby can stop worrying about silly little things like "where are we going to put all these people?" because it'll all magically work out.
Incidentally, a note for Quin and Angel: Tables and Chairs (see if we can borrow two card tables and abundant chairs from Mom and Dad, and one of the short rectangles from church), and find out how many chairs and if we can borrow from church if needed. Be ready to do one more load of laundry when I get down on Wednesday night.
Overnighters, bring pillows and blankets, there'll be floor space somehow. Everyone else, can't wait to see you all! Guest list is running 20-25, and it's quite diverse. If anyone still wants to come and has discovered they can make it (Friday, dinner around 7ish) just let me know before Thursday, please. Or show up anyway. Contact lakos for directions.

So I went home at around 2, which gave me time to stop at the dollar store and Wal-Mart and pick up more cloth napkins, towels, goblets, and assorted other fun things. Then came home, played FFIX and watched Shain freak out every time I put him on my lap instead of on a hard flat surface. This is not good. I think there's something wonky with the memory maybe. Perhaps I'll tape the memory door down and see if that helps.
Am actually ready for once, for a fun-filled day of doing surgeries on old ladies with unfortunate cancers. Will probably round early Wednesday AM, and thus not much available tonight. Even if I did get the good GYN-ONC rotation, it's still going to suck. At least IL is the next resident on, and I like her. She thinks I'm good.
Wish me well, O Best Beloved.

Woot! Too the Bat-Intern! I think they are just trying to make your job sound more exciting than it is. Also maybe they are implying that even though you aren't getting paid now (which Batman is not either) you'll still eventually be rich! (Like Bruce Wayne) Or possibly they are just bored and looking for new titles for things.

The med school back in MO also called it Batcave, Batphone, and I heard rumor of a batmobile, but never inquired further.

Hey! Where we're going to put people is a valid worry, as I stare at the guest list and wonder where the frell everyone is going to sleep, eat and exist. But then again, I'm a compulsive planner and worrier. (deep breaths) I still need yeast, by the way. I should pick that up tomorrow after work.

Yes, but, you see, I've planned parties here before. And we can find space for 15 or so before, we'll do it again. Everyone will fit, just wait and see.
Get yeast.
