"Why is it so small, Mommy?" "It's a baby."
Was intrigued by staircase_wit's Autism Quotient score, so I took it. I scored a 31. Do I really show that many autistic traits? The idea has nestled into my mind, now, and will linger in obsessive wondering.

That said, it's been an interesting few days. After my agonized entry of Tuesday, it turned out that Dr. B wound up in surgery until 1800. Which meant we stuck around until 18-fucking-00. Went over the exam.
I did not go home that night, but I did go to Muncie and have dinner at Yokohama with my Angel. We were the only two in the restaurant. It was one of those places where they cook the steak on the grill in front of you. We made a good connection with him, I think, and had a lovely time. The flask of sake didn't hurt either. Have decided that Angel will take me out to dinner after each rotation.
Drove back to S's and nearly fell asleep on the road. Hence no update.

Yesterday, orientation to OB/Gyn all day. Learned much. Came home and screwed around online, played, FFIX, didn't update. Got an e-mail from Emily reminding me to turn in my Iatrogenesis article by this weekend. Bugged ishotkenney about it. Yay for being a med student.

Today was the first real day of OB/Gyn. Got up and got to the hospital at 0700. Saw one delivery and scrubbed in on two C-sections. I have stories, O Best Beloved, but after I left the hospital at 1600 (!) and made an extra 20 minutes of trip because I left my wallet in my locker, and then went to the Macaroni Grill with my mentoring group. The faculty paid.
Now I am full of pasta and Italian dessert, and exhausted by staying up too late last night with Angel. I'll update tomorrow if I can, especially if there is time during the day. I'm on clinic in the morning, labor board in the afternoon. So far, I like it, although I can't quite shake the feeling that the hours are too short. What will I do with all my free time?
Tonight, O Best Beloved, I think I'll sleep. Tomorrow, I'll tell you about getting covered in blood.

now feeling:: sleepy sleepy

I finally did it! Sent the answers. Sorry they were so late. :(

OB? My goodness, are they trying to kill you? When do you get a breather? ::hugs::

Three blocks of clerkships: Family Medicine/Paediatrics/Vacation; Surgery/OB-Gyn/Surgical specialty; Medicine/Neurology/Psychiatry.

Basically, yes. They are trying to kill us, because from here I go to Surg Spec. But at least there's 2 weeks of Anaesthesia in there :)

I scored a 7, but I'm not really sure that test is really all that accurate.

Good luck on the whole getting covered in blood thing. Ummm. Yeah, that sounds like it isn't much fun. Hopefully you'll get some time to sleep here soon, you're working too hard. :)

For some reason, I thought I'd score higher on that Autism quotient list, although there's some things where I match perfectly and others I don't. Then again, I get a lot of confusion when it comes to Kaiden when it comes to this stuff. He has told me that his psychologist says he doesn't have aspergers, but then I turn around and talk to almost anyone who has the condition and the similarities are frightening so sometimes I think he has a point. Oh well. -.- I'm too tired to make sence.

Diane, my co-worker, said she could tell I had some from of High Functional Autism.

I think it's a good place to start from, especially with the temper tantrums. "Anger Management" is different then "Meltdown Control."

Some of the questions, I had to "guess" on. Like, the fascination with numbers. I'm fascinated by trancendentals, like phi, chi, and theta. I'm less fascinated by whole numbers.

Ayradyss doesn't strike me as being an autist. An autist is unlikely to invite people they don't know over to their homes. The potential for unpredictable behavior is just too high. And, we don't hug. There are two people who I feel comfortable hugging, Barbara and Carl. Everyone else raises anxiety levels. Then again, that might be a guy thing. Lots of "Autistic" traits are "guy thing" traits, such as sitting paralel during a conversation, rather than keeping things eye-to-eye. Eye-to-eye is a sign of sexual interest or hostility, so guys tend to avoid excessive eye contact. Now, Aspergers tend to avoid all eye contact.

Honestly, though... I think I could be high and my psychologist wouldn't notice. He's a good guy and all, but he seems to be more like Peter Vankman then Egon Spangler (remembering, of course, that these people are parapsychologists).

By "talk," do you mean online or offline? I'm guessing that there are a lot of physical "cues" that a Neurotypical would pick up on. For example, "DD handwriting," my lack of motor coordination (including bumping into walls at time), etc. One common Asperger trait is the whole tying of shoelaces. As you've noticed, I'm still using the simpler method.

It's hard to say, because my scores are rather borderline. I seem to have a higher EQ and lower SQ then most autists, and my AQ is right on the edge.

I don't know if it will make you feel better or not, but I got a 30 on that test....and I find myself routinely fascinated with patterns in numbers, patterns in all sorts of things... It was just...interesting.
